Foreword

Karl Barth described forgiveness as "the power of all powers." It is the grand and generous result in our lives of the grace of God. When I first heard a lecture by Dr. Ralph Gwinn on the meaning of forgiveness, I was deeply impressed by the wisdom and wholeness of the man who was the teacher. Here is a scholar and pastor who understands the forgiveness of Jesus Christ as "the power of all powers."

Ralph Gwinn has lived his own life in the daily journey of grace so that what he has written for us in this vital book on forgiveness is both exciting and relevant.

Those of us who have been colleagues of Dr. Gwinn have urged him to write this book, and now I am pleased that it is a reality. We need this book.
