Preface

Bill Barbour, Jr., Ernie Owen and I were having breakfast when the subject came up. The conversation had turned to the embarrassing question of how long I had been playing the piano in evangelistic circles.

"Rudy, you have become an institution," Bill said. "Why don't you write about some of your experiences?"

There are those who will attest that I have always played the piano. That's not true! There was a time when I ran races and played with marbles, when I flew kites like every boy in our neighborhooda time when I took little notice of the magic instrument which was to become so much a part of my future.

This story has its beginnings in Illinois; it has no ending. It is "To be continued tomorrow" for as long as the Lord has a place for me to labor in His vineyard. As one of His laborers I have met many wonderful people who are also His servants. My story includes some of themsome famous, some notall working toward His glory. You may meet some of your friends in The Rudy Atwood Story.
