Epilogue
The decision I made that night has proved to be the right one.
Today, some six years later, I still hold to that faith in Jesus Christ, and the new life that He gave me has continued to flourish and grow day by day. In Him there have been no disappointments.
Yet, many things have changed since then. If you were to visit China or Hong Kong today, you would probably find many differences compared with what is written in this book. The greatest change would be in the political situation. For example, in the year that I left (1972), the Chinese people were still very suspicious as they looked at Richard Nixon's photograph published in the People's Daily. Today we see pictures of Chinese young people dancing just like Americans.
However, there is something in China that has not changed that is the empty hearts of the people. Nine hundred million people are crying out for truth and freedom.
And God's grace has not changed. He has never forgotten His Chinese people. Praise His Name!
One beautiful evening this spring I was in Dr. Bowman's home. With great excitement he told me of the thrilling letter response from China that month.1 Then, with deep emotion in his voice, he added, "Suppose we had never received a single letter from mainland China; your salvation alone would have made all the prayer, the effort and expense worthwhile!"
I was so moved by his words that I could hardly speak.
Praise God for His constant love to us all, and that He uses this wonderful medium of radio to convey the message of salvation to my people!
