Acknowledgments

First an expression of gratitude must go to my Maker, who has suffered me to tarry on earth, possibly to write this book. He may share the opinion of my publishing friends that a fresh word needs to be spoken for old age. In any event, I am grateful to the people at Thomas Nelson, Inc., and particularly to Jarrell McCracken, Ronald Haynes, Jane Jones, and Louetta Syne for thinking I could supply that word.

I need to acknowledge with thanks the help of fellow writers in southern California who reviewed some of these pages, and especially the help of my wife, Ruth, who read them all. Some pages she inspired, some she corrected, some she simply put up with. Rik Mussman, my tour guide and expert in computerland, was of invaluable assistance.

Lastly, I am indebted to Robert Boyd Munger for his gracious foreword. For six decades Dr. Munger has been to me a classmate, friend, and spiritual tutor.

   Soli Deo gloria.
